There are several themer types, each of which specializes in a certain aspect.

Recreational Themers
Recreational Themers tend to create themes that resemble as closely as possible official game releases such as the ever-popular Dance Dance Revolution.
Original Themers
Original Themers tend to create themes that are completely original such as AJ 187's dubaiOne or k//eternal's NEX.
Coders
Coders tend to create themes that are logically sound in their code. Usually, Coder themers will sacrifice graphics for solid code.
Artistic Themers
Artistic Themers tend to create themes that focus primarily on graphics. Usually, Artist themers will sacrifice code and often machine performance for graphical enhancement.
Hybrid Themers
Hybrid Themers tend to create themes with elements of both Coder and Artist types.
